Welcome! My name is Maddison Norton, and I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) based in Belmont, MA. With extensive experience providing therapy to adults struggling with symptoms of PTSD, depression, and anxiety, I am passionate about helping individuals find relief and healing in their lives.
Expertise in Trauma Counseling and PTSD Treatment
As a licensed Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) provider, I specialize in helping individuals work through trauma and reduce the symptoms associated with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). My approach is both structured and empathetic, guiding patients in examining how past events have shaped their current self-perception and beliefs about the world. Through trauma counseling, we work together to break free from harmful thought patterns and foster healing. Whether you’ve been experiencing symptoms for years or more recently, I offer tailored PTSD treatment plans designed to support you in regaining control and finding peace.
Depression Treatment: Empowering You to Rediscover Joy
Depression can be overwhelming, isolating, and deeply impact your quality of life. In our sessions, I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore the underlying causes of your depression and work toward meaningful change. My therapeutic lens is trauma informed, psychodynamic, and strengths-based, I work with clients to challenge negative thought patterns and promote healthier perspectives. My goal is to empower you to reclaim a sense of joy and purpose, allowing you to navigate life’s challenges with more resilience and hope.
Anxiety Treatment: Tools for Managing Stress and Fear
If anxiety is preventing you from living fully, I can help. Anxiety often manifests as constant worry, stress, and sometimes physical symptoms that disrupt daily life. Through anxiety treatment, we will explore the root causes of your anxiety and develop effective strategies to manage it. I incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy to help you break the cycle of anxious thoughts and behaviors. Whether you’re experiencing social anxiety, panic attacks, or generalized anxiety, I offer tailored support to help you regain a sense of calm and confidence.
Warm, Validating, and Collaborative Approach
I’ve been described by my patients as warm, validating, and easy to talk to. My office, located on McLean Hospital’s campus in Belmont, MA, offers a welcoming and private space for in-person therapy. For those unable to attend in person, I also offer virtual telehealth appointments to patients across Massachusetts, making therapy accessible no matter where you are.
In addition to working through trauma, depression, and anxiety, I often help individuals navigate life transitions, challenging family dynamics, and interpersonal issues. My goal is to help you feel understood and supported as we work together to explore how your past experiences shape your current life.
Education and Credentials
I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Boston College, where I was trained in a wide range of therapeutic modalities. After completing my practicum at Boston Children’s Hospital, I continued to deepen my expertise in trauma care at McLean Hospital, where I work within the trauma continuum, supporting individuals in both the outpatient clinic and partial hospitalization program. I primarily treat patients experiencing complex PTSD, mood disturbances, and dissociation. Additionally, I provide consultation and supervision to LCSWs as part of my role at McLean, helping to guide and support other clinicians in their professional growth. My compassionate, evidence-based approach ensures comprehensive, individualized care for each patient.
